The History behind the Villa Le Cercle in Deauville
The Villa Le Cercle is an exceptional house and one of the oldest buildings in the town, and is listed amongst the buildings in the Deauville architecture and heritage initiative. This architectural marvel saw the day in 1876, designed by Desle-Francois Breney. His Napolean style architecture was inspired by the Palais de la Légion d’honneur in Paris: the Salm Hotel. At the time, the villa quickly became the favourite place of horse lovers where memebers of the Paris Jockey Club liked to meet up each summer to talk about their passion.
The Villa has the architectural characteristics faithful to the time of its construction: red and yellow brick from brickyards in Touques and La Croix Sonnet, women’s busts made in terracotta on the facades, neoclassical style stone banisters, a slate covered roof, a detached Tudor style house inspired by English architecture. One of the most remarkable elements of this building is its elevated position. The raised terrace runs along the ground floor of the North West elevation. The large bay windows on the rotunda shaped main building allow natural light to illuminate the reception rooms. This prestigious past and the preserved architecture rank the Villa amongst the most beautiful venues for corporate seminars and luxury weddings.
