The C.I.D certified ISO 20121
Sustainable development is at the heart of the development strategy of the Palais des Congrès de Deauville, steered by the management and the CSR department of the CID. The teams integrate the notion of “eco-responsibility” into each of their actions, and are aware of the need to support event organisers in their efforts to protect the environment
Initially certified to ISO 9001, a standard focused on the quality management system, the C.I.D – Palais des congrès de Deauville – turned in 2018 to an international standard specifically aimed at event organisers. ISO 20121 provides guidelines and best practices for managing the social, economic and environmental impact of events and, more broadly, of the C.I.D. – Palais des Congrès de Deauville. This calculator enables them to evaluate the economic, social and environmental impacts and spin-offs of all types of events : conventions, seminars, gala evenings, study days, etc.u
Deauville – An innovative and sustainable destination
The France Congress and Events Network gathers around 50 towns that host congresses and events. It is at the origin of the Innovative Sustainable Destination initiative. This initiative concerns ISO 20121 certified actors who wish to broaden their actions to support sustainable tourism in their region, and to provide structure and best practice in a recognised framework. The framework lists 26 actions grouped into 8 points:
- Governing and transparency,
- sustainable mobility,
- responsible consumption and the fight against waste,
- inclusion,
- heritage preservation,
- sustainable innovation,
- implication of professionals and tourists
- and the security of the public.
Deauville is amongst one of the first destinations to be recognised for its dedication and its action plan in favour of sustainable tourism, both for pleasure and for business, and a policy of eco responsible events.
